SINGAPORE — A 26-year-old man was arrested at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) on Friday (Jan 17) for allegedly insulting the modesty of a female student.

The Singapore Police Force said that it received a call for assistance at a bus stop along Nanyang Drive at about 2.40pm.

“A 26-year-old man was arrested for the offence of insulting the modesty of a person,” said the police.

In response to TODAY’s queries, an NTU spokesperson said that the man involved is not an NTU student but a participant in a short-term course conducted at the university.

The university’s pastoral care team reached out to the affected female student immediately after the incident, the spokesperson added.

A reader told TODAY that she saw a string of police cars at a bus stop near the North Spine — near the National Institute of Education — where two women and a man were questioned by the police.

Police investigations are ongoing.
