Man, 28, arrested for NTUC Fairprice scam on Carousell

SINGAPORE – A 28-year-old man was arrested on Monday (May 29) for his suspected involvement in an online purchase scam of NTUC Fairprice shopping vouchers, according to a police statement released on Wednesday (May 31).
TODAY understands that he had tried to sell the grocery vouchers on online marketplace Carousell.
The police had received a report from a victim on May 16, who purchased S$500 worth of NTUC Fairprice vouchers from the man at a discounted price of S$470. After payment was made by the victim, she discovered that the envelope contained only S$250 worth of NTUC vouchers.
The suspect then became uncontactable.
After establishing his identity, the police arrested him on Monday along Kampong Java Road.
Investigations are ongoing.
Anyone found guilty of cheating may be punished with jail of up to 10 years, and/or a fine.
