Man charged with growing 2 cannabis plants in Yishun flat
Central Narcotics Bureau officers found two cannabis plants, written instructions on how to grow them, glass apparatus and a makeshift greenhouse in a Yishun flat.
SINGAPORE — A 44-year-old man was charged in court on Wednesday (Sept 11) with growing two cannabis plants in a Yishun flat.
Artamu Ibrahim was nabbed with a 52-year-old woman two days ago after immigration officers found drug-related equipment, including glass apparatus, at the parcel post section of SingPost Centre.
According to court documents, he allegedly cultivated the plants sometime between July and Monday.
Cannabis — also known as marijuana or weed — is a Class A controlled drug listed under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) raided the 13th-storey flat that Artamu and his alleged accomplice were arrested in, at Block 336A Yishun Street 31. They found two cannabis pot plants, written instructions on how to grow them, and more glass apparatus there.
Officers also found a makeshift greenhouse for the cultivation of the cannabis plants within the flat.

The woman has not been charged in court yet.
District Judge Terence Tay ordered Artamu to be remanded in Central Police Division for investigations. He will return to court on Sept 18.
If convicted of cultivating cannabis plants, he could be jailed for up to 20 years, or fined up to S$40,000, or both.
The consumption, possession, trafficking, import or export of any controlled drug is also an offence. Those convicted of trafficking more than 500g of cannabis face the mandatory death penalty.
