Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen to visit the US, speak at Aspen Security Forum
SINGAPORE: Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen will be making an official visit to the United States this week where he will also address the Aspen Security Forum, the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said on Monday (Jul 15).
Dr Ng will be in the US from Monday to Thursday.
The ministry said in a news release that Dr Ng will first meet his counterpart, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd J Austin III, in Washington DC.
He will then speak at the opening night of the 2024 Aspen Security Forum in the state of Colorado on Wednesday.
Dr Ng's visit "underscores the excellent and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and the US", said MINDEF.
The forum is a biannual security and foreign policy conference that brings together leaders and key players in the defence community. It has been convened annually in Colorado since 2010.
Among the other speakers this year are US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director William Burns.
