No appointment needed to get Covid-19 vaccination at 11 centres offering Moderna shot: MOH

SINGAPORE — In an effort to ramp up the national Covid-19 vaccination exercise here, all Singapore residents aged 18 and above who have not yet come forward for their first dose can now do so at any of the 11 vaccination centres offering the Moderna vaccine without booking an appointment.

In a press statement on Monday (Aug 2), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said the move was to “further increase the convenience for all to get vaccinated”.

Therefore, all Singaporeans, permanent residents and long-term pass holders who have yet to get their shot can walk into any of the 11 vaccination centres without an appointment from Monday. 

Providing an update on Singapore’s national vaccination exercise, MOH said around 7.5 million doses of the Covid-19 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) vaccine had been administered as of July 31. 

Around 4.3 million people had received at least one dose of the vaccine, of whom about 3.3 million, or 61 per cent of Singapore residents, have completed the full vaccination regimen.

MOH also gave the the proportion of people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, or have booked an appointment to do so, by age group:

  • 60 and above: 83 per cent

  • 45 to 59: 88 per cent

  • 40 to 44: 87 per cent

  • 12 to 39: 83 per cent

“Vaccination remains a key enabler in our fight against Covid-19. Its ability to help Singapore reopen safely can only be felt when we can collectively achieve a high level of population coverage for vaccination,” said MOH.
