SINGAPORE — The National Solidarity Party (NSP) is trying to get in touch with former member Ms Nicole Seah in hopes of wooing her back, the party’s acting secretary-general Hazel Poa told reporters on Sunday morning (Aug 2).
Ms Seah, who moved to Bangkok for work last year and is appearing in the SG50 film 1965, was part of the NSP team that lost to the People’s Action Party by a 13-percentage point margin in the contest for Marine Parade GRC in the 2011 General Election. Then 24, she was also the youngest woman candidate in the GE.
During NSP’s walkabout in MacPherson this morning, residents could be heard asking where Ms Seah was. Speaking to reporters after the walkabout, Ms Poa said: “Of course the party will be very happy if we can get Nicole Seah back. We are trying to get in touch with her and hopefully be able to work out something, but of course it is her decision ultimately.”
Ms Poa declined to reveal NSP’s plans or potential candidates for the upcoming GE, until after tomorrow’s meeting (August 3) with other opposition parties. Referring to reports about an impromptu meeting among opposition members that took place last night, Ms Poa said it was more of a casual gathering than a meeting.
“As far as we are aware, it was just an informal chit-chat session between some opposition members, but it (seemed) to have grown unexpectedly and later became misconstrued as a meeting,” she said.
