SINGAPORE — The only woman charged over the high-profile Orchard Towers brawl in July, which led to the death of a 31-year-old man, faced two new charges on Friday (Oct 25): Disorderly behaviour in a public place and consorting with someone carrying an offensive weapon.
Last week, Natalie Siow Yu Zhen, 23, had an earlier murder charge reduced to one of causing hurt. Her lawyer Amarick Gill told TODAY that she had burst into tears shortly after realising she was no longer facing the death penalty.
Siow had allegedly kicked and punched Satheesh Noel Gobidass on July 2 together with Tan Sen Yang, 28, Joel Tan Yun Sheng, 26, and Ang Da Yuan, 26.
The trio still face the murder charge and remain in remand.
The latest court documents showed that Siow is now accused of consorting with Tan Sen Yang, who is said to have had a foldable Karambit knife when he was at the Naughty Girl Club in Orchard Towers at around 5.45am on July 2.
The knife, a small curved one with South-east Asian roots, was allegedly used in the attack.
Siow was also newly charged with behaving in a disorderly manner that morning by repeatedly dashing towards a group of patrons at the main entrance of the club, in a bid to kick and push them. This allegedly took place around 6.30am.
A week after the incident, three other men had their murder charges reduced to consorting with someone carrying an offensive weapon. They are Tan Hong Sheng, 22; Loo Boon Chong, 25; and Chan Jia Xing, 26.
Loo and Chan are out on bail, while Tan Hong Sheng, who was originally on bail, has been in custody since Sept 27. He had absconded on Aug 29 after failing to attend a hearing in a district court.
Siow will return to court on Nov 29 and remains out on bail of S$20,000.
As part of her bail conditions, she will be electronically tagged, is required to be home between 10pm and 7am, and has to surrender her travel documents.
