PM Lee to deliver National Day Rally speech on Sunday

SINGAPORE — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver his 15th National Day Rally (NDR) on Sunday (Aug 19) at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Ang Mo Kio.

In a statement on Tuesday (Aug 14), the Prime Minister’s Office said that Mr Lee will speak in Malay and Mandarin from 6.45pm to 7.30pm, and in English from 8.15pm to 9.30pm.

Mr Lee typically uses the NDR to unveil policy changes, and the speech is widely seen as the most important political speech of the year.

This is the sixth time that the rally will be held at the ITE.

The rally will be broadcast live on local Mediacorp television channels and radio stations.

Mr Lee’s speech will be broadcast in English on Channel 5, Okto and 938NOW from 6.45pm to 8.15pm.

The Mandarin broadcast will be on Channel 8, Channel U and Capital 95.8FM from 6.45pm to 8.15pm.

The Malay broadcast will be on Suria and Warna 94.2FM from 6.45pm to 8.15pm while the Tamil broadcast will be on Vasantham and Oli 96.8FM at the same time.

Channel NewsAsia will broadcast the Malay and Chinese speeches with summary captions in English from 6.45pm, and the English speech with summary captions from 8.15pm.

The rally will also be livestreamed on the PMO’s YouTube channel, Mr Lee’s Facebook page, on government feedback unit Reach’s Facebook page and on Mediacorp’s toggle.sg and Channel NewsAsia’s website.

Singaporeans can also get live updates on the National Day Rally at Mr Lee’s Facebook page and his Twitter account as the speech is delivered.
