PM Lee 'reluctantly' accepts Lui Tuck Yew's decision to step down

SINGAPORE — The Prime Minister’s Office announced today (Aug 11) that Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew will step down from politics and not stand in the coming elections. Mr Lui wrote about his decision in a letter to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. In response, Mr Lee said in a letter to Mr Lui that he reluctantly accepts the latter's decision "though I am disappointed I did not succeed in changing your mind". Here is the letter by Mr Lui, and Mr Lee's response.
