SINGAPORE — United Kingdom-based Tower Transit, which will begin bus services in Singapore next year, is inviting the public to help choose the design of uniforms for bus captains. Its bus captains will also be asked to rank the designs, with their votes given higher weightage.
The company beat 10 local and foreign players earlier this year in clinching the tender for the Government’s new bus contracting model. Under the contract, Tower Transit will operate the new Bulim Bus Depot, as well as ply 26 routes from the Bukit Batok, Clementi and Jurong East interchanges.
The bus services are scheduled to start from the middle of next year.
In a statement issued today (Nov 3), Tower Transit CEO Adam Leishman said, “Many people rely on the bus for their daily commute. They take the same bus services, they even see the same bus captains and passengers every day. Since it’s such a regular part of their lives, we wanted to give those involved a small say in how they experience their bus rides”.
An online poll has been set-up on Tower Transit’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/towertransitsg), where four uniform options to pick from include design features such as colour blocking, Peranakan styling, aviation-inspired elements and a more corporate, buttoned-up look.
Voting ends Nov 13 at 8pm, with the winning design to be announced at a later date.
