He promised in the previous elections that all eligible blocks in Fengshan would be upgraded, and last night, Member of Parliament (MP) for East Coast GRC Raymond Lim announced that the Home Improvement Programme for the last 21 blocks has been approved.

This will benefit close to 2,500 households, Mr Lim told residents at the Fengshan National Day Dinner.

The former Transport Minister also referred to speculation about who might helm the new Single Member Constituency, with Community Club Management Committee chairman Cheryl Chan’s name having been mentioned.

“Cheryl’s life has become even more exciting lately with intense media speculation that if I were to retire, she is likely to succeed me. I would only say this, if so, Fengshan is in very good hands,” he said.

He ended his speech by saying: “It has been a great privilege and honour for me to have served as your MP these past 14 years ... Whatever the future may bring, I want you to know that from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all well.”
