SINGAPORE — The Registers of Electors are available for public inspection, said the Elections Department (ELD) in a media release on Wednesday (April 15).

The registers were certified on Wednesday, with a total of 2,653,942 electors. This is up from a revised total of 2,460,977 electors on the registers ahead of the 2015 General Election (GE).

A GE is due to be held in Singapore by April next year, although there is some speculation that the poll may be held earlier.

Singapore citizens can check their particulars in the registers through Voter Services on the ELD website or under their profile in the SingPass mobile app, the statement said.

Those who have had their names removed from the registers for not voting in a past election can still apply online through Voter Services to have their names restored, so that they can vote in future elections.

“They are encouraged to apply early as, under the law, we will not be able to restore their names during the period from the date the Writ for an election is issued until after Nomination Day if the election is not contested, or until after Polling Day if a poll is to be taken,” ELD said.

Overseas Singaporeans may also register as overseas electors to vote at a designated overseas polling station. To be eligible, they must have resided in Singapore for an aggregate of at least 30 days from March 1, 2017 to Feb 29, 2020.

The 10 overseas missions that serve as overseas registration centres:

  • Singapore High Commission in Canberra, Australia

  • Singapore High Commission in London, United Kingdom

  • Singapore Embassy in Tokyo, Japan

  • Singapore Embassy in Beijing, China

  • Singapore Embassy in Washington DC, the United States

  • Singapore Consulate-General in Hong Kong

  • Singapore Consulate-General in Shanghai, China

  • Singapore Consulate-General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates

  • Singapore Consulate-General in San Francisco, US
