Road closures to begin on Sept 14 for Formula 1 setup

SINGAPORE — With the return of Formula 1 comes all its expected road closures.
This year, several thoroughfares around the Marina Centre will be closed for six days, from 12.01am on Sept 14, for the setup of the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Tuesday (Aug 16).
Affected roads include Raffles Avenue, Raffles Boulevard and Connaught Drive. They will be reopened progressively after the race, Sept 16 to 18.

All roads will be fully reopened by 5.30am on Sept 20.
Taxis will be allowed to enter the Marina Centre at all times, except during race times. Members of the public are reminded that the MRT will be available for use and are advised to use public transport during the road closure period as services will have extended operating hours.

Shopping centres and developments in the Marina Centre area can be accessed by car through a single-lane road from Nicoll Highway and Temasek Boulevard at the following times: Sept 14 to 16, from 10am to 5pm, and from 10pm to 6am; Sept 17 to 18, from midnight to 1pm; Sept 19, from midnight to 6am, 10am to 5pm and from 10pm to 6am.

In addition to the single-lane road, motorists can enter the Marina Centre via Temasek Boulevard from Rochor Road (after exiting ECP) throughout the day.
Traffic wardens will be deployed to direct traffic and help the public. There will also be road information and directional signs in the vicinty to aid motorists.
Suntec City, Millenia Singapore and Marina Square car parks will remain open subject to availability.

The operating hours of MRT trains will be extended during race days (Sept 16-18) and selected feeder buses will also be extended to match the last train times.
On Sept 16, MRT services will be available at City Hall station until 1.30am. On Sept 17 and 18, train services at the station will continue until 1.10am.
Free shuttle buses are also available between Lavender MRT station and Gate 1 of the race venue.
Race goers are strongly advised to make use of public transport and plan their journey ahead of time.
