Rolls-Royce to sell one-of-a-kind SG50 car
SINGAPORE — Luxury auto maker Rolls-Royce will be celebrating Singapore’s 50th birthday by releasing a one-of-a-kind car called the SG50 Ghost Series II next month.
The car, which will be unveiled on Aug 18 in Singapore, rolled out of the production line at the Rolls-Royce headquarters in Goodwood, England yesterday (July 22). It marks the first time the British auto maker has ever commissioned a car to commemorate the anniversary of a state.
The car’s exterior is painted in English White with a contrasting Consort Red coachline to represent the colours of the Singapore flag.
The Merlion symbol will be also stitched into its headrests, while the tread plate will feature a drawing of the Singapore skyline with the words “Hand Built in Goodwood, England for Singapore’s 50th Anniversary”.
“This SG50 Ghost Series II, a unique celebratory Rolls-Royce, will sit as a timeless masterpiece in a client’s care to reflect on this significant milestone,” said Mr Paul Harris, Asia Pacific Regional Director of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, in a press statement.
On the Rolls-Royce Singapore website, Ms Renee Chua, General Manager of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Singapore, further described why a Bespoke Rolls-Royce was created for SG50: “Since 2003 when we launched Phantom in Singapore, we have seen the nation grow exponentially which has contributed to the success of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars here. We want to pay tribute to our country with this Bespoke car, and hope that Singapore will see continued success in the many years ahead.”
Just one SG50 bespoke model will be available for purchase. No pricing information is available as yet.
