SINGAPORE – Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak on Sunday (June 7) wrote to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong expressing his condolences on the loss of Singaporean lives in the wake of the Sabah earthquake last Friday.

Mr Najib wrote: “On behalf of the Government and people of Malaysia, I wish to extend our deepest condolences and profound sympathy to the families of the victims.”

In the letter, he also assured Mr Lee that Malaysia has taken all necessary steps to provide immediate rescue and recovery efforts to the affected people.

In his response to Mr Najib, Mr Lee wrote that the support and assistance that the Malaysian government has rendered to Singapore, in particular the Sabah state government and its agencies, is “greatly appreciated”.

Search-and-rescue efforts for the two missing Singaporeans resumed at 6am today.
