SCDF battling fire in Tuas industrial estate, operation ongoing

SINGAPORE — Firefighters from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were battling a blaze at an industrial estate in Tuas on Tuesday (March 17) night.
This comes just about a week after there was a huge fire at a warehouse in Jurong, also in the western part of the island, last Monday.
In a post on its Facebook page, SCDF said that it was alerted to the fire at 7 Tuas Avenue 18 at about 9.45pm.
It is the listed address of Hock Ann Seng Industries, and an online directory shows that the company specialises in the supply of new and reconditioned steel as well as plastic drums.
SCDF said that when firefighters arrived at the scene, the blaze was raging and had spread along the drains.
They had to use three water jets and one water monitor as part of the operations, where were still ongoing past 11pm.
SCDF added that users of the SGSecure mobile application, M1, StarHub and SingTel mobile subscribers within the immediate vicinity of the fire incident would have received a message urging the public to stay away from the area.
