SEA Games: Singapore's Teong Tzen Wei wins men's 50m freestyle

KUALA LUMPUR — Singapore's Teong Tzen Wei became the fastest man in the region for the 50m freestyle when he won the event at the SEA Games on Friday (Aug 25).

The 20-year-old clocked 22.55sec to beat Indonesia's Triady Fauzi Siddiq who took silver in 22.66sec.

Vietnam's Paul Le Nguyen finished third in 22.90sec, edging out Singapore's Darren Lim (23.07sec) for the bronze.

Defending champion Joseph Schooling had opted not to defend his 50m freestyle title at this Games. His SEA Games record is 22.47s, set two years ago at the SEA Games in Singapore.
