Senior activity centre at Bukit Merah View, baking supply store in Geylang among places visited by Covid-19 cases while infectious

SINGAPORE — A senior activity centre at Bukit Merah View as well as a baking supply store on Haig Road were added to a list of public places that had been visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period.

In its evening update on the coronavirus situation here on Friday (June 18), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the infectious persons had visited:

• Guardian outlet at Ion Orchard shopping mall on June 4 between 12.30pm and 8.30pm

• NTUC Health Senior Activity Centre (SilverACE) – Henderson located at 117 Bukit Merah View on June 9 between 10am and 11am

• Bake King — a baking supply store — at 10 Haig Road on June 14 between 12pm and 9pm

MOH on Friday said that a 35-year-old China national who works as a cashier at the Bake King baking supply store has been linked to the Bukit Merah View Market and Food Centre cluster. As of Friday, the cluster has 65 confirmed cases.

MOH said that it would have already notified individuals who were identified as close contacts of the confirmed cases.

"As a precautionary measure, persons who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit," it added.

"They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history."

Individuals may access the SafeEntry Location Matching Self-Check service via the TraceTogether mobile application, SingPass app, or at https://wereyouthere.safeentry.gov.sg to check whether they were at these locations during the specified timings, based on their own SafeEntry records.

Members of the public do not need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been, MOH said.

The National Environment Agency will engage the management of the affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection.

On Friday, MOH reported 16 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore, 14 of which were in the community. The remaining two were imported.
