Times Bookstores to close last outlet at Holland Road
SINGAPORE: After almost four decades in Singapore, Times Bookstores announced on Monday (Sep 16) that it will be closing its last outlet in the country.
Located at Jelita Shopping Centre on Holland Road, its last day of operations will be on Sunday, the English-language book retailer said.
"After decades of creating magical memories and sharing countless stories, the time has come to close the final chapter of Times Bookstores," it said on its social media pages.
"It has been our greatest honour to be a part of your reading journey. Thank you for letting us fill your lives with the wonder of books and the joy of imagination."
Established in 1978, the retailer is owned by the Southeast Asia-based Fraser and Neave group, which has businesses in the F&B and publishing and printing sectors. Times also operated outlets in Malaysia.
It offers titles across a wide range of genres, such as children's books, lifestyle and non-fiction.
The closure of Times Bookstores' final outlet follows a series of similar moves over the past five years.
Its Centrepoint store ceased operations in 2019 and it closed its Marina Square and Paragon outlets in 2021.
Earlier this year, it shuttered its Plaza Singapura and Waterway Point branches, leaving the Jelita outlet as its last remaining store.
