Trio charged for assaulting man and breaking his skull

SINGAPORE — Two Malaysian men and a Singaporean woman were charged this morning (April 24) for assaulting a man with a spanner and breaking his skull.

Muniandy P Selvam, 28, Rajkumar Ponnapolam, 35 and Chiu Hwee Leng, 40, are accused of causing grievous hurt to Mr Wang Lixin near a lift at the void deck of Block 228 Jurong East Street 21, at around 11.30pm on Tuesday. Their weapon was a 30-cm long spanner, which caused Mr Wang to suffer a fractured skull, the court heard.

The trio has been offered bail and will return to court on May 15.

If convicted of voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons, they face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, or up to 15 years with a fine and caning.
