Unlicensed massage establishment in Serangoon Gardens busted for vice activities

SINGAPORE — Eight women were arrested following a raid at an unlicensed massage establishment at Maju Avenue in Serangoon Gardens on Thursday (Aug 4).
The police had received information on vice-related activities.
Preliminary investigations found that the women were believed to have advertised sexual services online and carried out vice-related activities in the premise.
The women, aged between 22 and 52, were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter.
Investigations will be carried out against the premise owner.
The premise owner could be jailed up to five years, and/or fined up to S$10,000 for being the tenant, lessee or occupier or person in charge of a brothel and the offence of keeping, managing or assisting in the management of a brothel.
In addition, any person who contravenes the offence of knowingly living wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of another person, is liable to jail of up to five years and a fine of up to S$10,000.
