Valencia players, legends to feature in Football With a Heart

SINGAPORE — Past and present players from Spanish La Liga side Valencia CF will be taking part in this year’s Football With A Heart (FWAH) charity tournament which will be held at the National Stadium on May 21.
According to a media release by Singapore Pools, one of the organisers of the annual event, current Valencia squad players Santi Mina, Mathew Ryan, Jaume Domenech and Javi Fuego, as well as club legends and former Spain internationals Gaizka Mendieta and David Albelda, will be split up among the various teams competing in the Celebrity League.
One of the teams is Team Parliamentarians, which is made up of Singapore MPs. It will be skippered by Mr Teo Ser Luck, the Minister of State for Manpower, and also includes Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development, and Mr Ong Ye Kung Acting Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Senior Minister of State for Defence.
The celebrity league will also include teams featuring senior officials from government agencies, Fox Sports commentators and Mediacorp artistes, including popular actors like Zheng Ge Ping and Desmond Tan.
While here, the Valencia CF players will also attend the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship Awards Presentation on May 20 at ITE College East as special guests.
Valencia CF is owned by Singapore billionaire Peter Lim.
Organised by Singapore Pools, iShine Staff Volunteers and the Football Association of Singapore, Football With A Heart is an annual charity football tournament that raises money for various charities.
The past three editions have raised S$1.685 million for 18 charities. This year’s Football With A Heart features 42 corporate teams and has raised S$500,000 for nine beneficiaries.
