SINGAPORE — Expect the mercury in the next two weeks to hit a high of 35°C on a few days with the forecast for the fortnight tipping warmer, drier conditions than in the month of July.

In an update on Thursday (July 30), the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said that warm and humid conditions can be expected on several nights, with temperatures hovering around 28°C.

The daily maximum temperature is expected to range between 33°C and 34°C on most days, with highs of around 35°C on a few days.

During this two-week period, the daily temperature is forecast to range between 25°C and 34°C on most days.

“The first half of August 2020 is expected to be warmer than July 2020,” the national weather service said.

MSS added that the monsoon rain band is forecast to shift northward, away from the equatorial Southeast Asian region, bringing about drier conditions in Singapore.

However, short-duration moderate to heavy thundery showers can be expected over parts of the island between the late morning and afternoon on some days due to the solar heating of land areas during the coming fortnight.

Widespread thundery showers with gusty winds due to Sumatra squalls are also expected between the predawn hours and morning on two or three days.

“Rainfall for the first fortnight of August 2020 is forecast to be slightly below-normal over most parts of Singapore,” MSS said.

For the daily weather forecast, the public may visit the websites of MSS or the National Environment Agency. They may also download the myENV mobile application or the Weather@SG app by MSS.
