Tens of thousands of job vacancies in Singapore go unfilled, even as layoffs are rising. In this new series, TODAY tells you where the jobs are, the salary range in the sectors that are hiring, and how to upgrade yourself if you are making a mid-career change.

In the third of our eight-part series, we look at vacancies in the vibrant hotel industry, buoyed by new hotels sprouting up and a steady stream of tourist arrivals. This sector plays a vital role in Singapore’s economy, contributing around S$3.5 billion to the Republic’s gross domestic product and employing about 35,000 workers.

With homegrown hotel chains spreading their wings overseas, new job opportunities in senior management are also opening up for Singaporeans, such as those for general managers and human resource directors.
