Woman killed in early morning accident at Hougang

SINGAPORE — A fatal accident took place at the junction of Hougang Street 52 and Avenue 8 on Wednesday morning (March 2).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the accident at 4.56am and dispatched an ambulance to the scene.
According to SCDF, the accident involved a van and a 53-year-old female pedestrian. Upon arrival, paramedics pronounced the victim dead.
Police also told Channel NewsAsia that the driver was a 54-year-old male, and he was subsequently arrested for causing death by negligence. Investigations are ongoing, they added. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
