Working with children the most satisfying aspect: Ng Chee Meng
His promotion to full minister, announced on Friday, was a “good affirmation” of the work he and his colleagues have done over the past year, Mr Ng Chee Meng said yesterday.
Now an Acting Minister, Mr Ng will be promoted to Education Minister (Schools) from tomorrow, helming the ministry jointly with Mr Ong Ye Kung, who will be Education Minister (Higher Education and Skills).
Speaking to reporters yesterday after the launch of Punggol’s new cycle path network, Mr Ng said: “I’m very appreciative of the Prime Minister’s confidence in me, and it’s a good affirmation of all the things that we’ve done in the past year.
“I look forward to serving Singapore and Singaporeans to the best of my ability in the coming years.”
What was most satisfying about his work so far? Working with children, he said.
“I enjoy children, and seeing how I can contribute to their growth and their education adds a lot of meaning to my work in education and as a politician,” said Mr Ng, who will also be promoted to Second Minister for Transport. KENNETH CHENG
