SINGAPORE: The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will dispose of a 250kg World War II aerial bomb on Thursday (Apr 2), after it was found at a construction site along Tanah Merah Coast Road.
The war relic, discovered during construction works at 4.55am on Tuesday, was assessed as unsafe to move by the SAF Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
It will carry out an on-site disposal of the bomb between 2.30am and 4.30am on Thursday.
The Singapore Army said in a Facebook post that all necessary safety and control measures are in place.
Police added that the disposal will be contained within the construction site area and areas accessible to the public will not be affected.
“Loud sounds can be expected during the controlled disposal. Members of the public are advised not to be alarmed.”
A map of the disposal site provided by the police appears to show the location within the Changi East development area, where Terminal 5 is planned.
Police said they are working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, Changi Airport Group, SAF and the Singapore Civil Defence Force to ensure that the controlled disposal of the war relic is carried out safely.
