How to get glowing skin in less than a week

Just in time for your Valentine’s Day date.

You’ve got less than a week to Valentine’s Day. You’ve bought your S.O the perfect gift and got your date-night outfit sorted. And if you want to put your most radiant face forward on that special day - we’ve got a quick-fix guide that will get you there.

Keep these simple tips in mind and you’ll be looking your best this Valentine’s Day.

#1 Don’t sleep with your makeup on (you shouldn’t be doing that anyway!) or mess with your zits. Be sure to cleanse well and moisturise your skin. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated throughout the day.

#2 If de-puffing is another goal of yours, cut out the culprits, salt, dairy and alcohol, from your diet for the next few days.

#3 While putting on skincare products, take the opportunity to give your face a good massage. This boosts blood circulation and helps firm facial contours.

#4 You’ll want to avoid any acid peels, laser treatments or intense microdermabrasion before anything big because trust us, your skin won’t heal in time.

If you are in desperate need of a facial, make sure no major extraction work will be done because your skin will need time to “recover”. If you’re looking for something to soothe and energise sensitive skin right before a big date, try the Cryo Therapeutics Treatment (CTT), $220 for 45 minutes, at IDS Aesthetics. The treatment, which includes mild extraction, has no down time and will leave your skin brighter.

#5 If you’re not getting a facial, exfoliate with a gentle facial scrub and use a hydrating mask the day before. Don’t get overenthusiastic with it – you won’t want your skin to look raw. Try the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant or Shiseido Waso Soft+Cushy Polisher, which is made of tofu. Then give skin a treat with the new Kiehl’s Instant Renewal Concentrate Mask, $52 for four sheets, or Clarins Super Restorative Instant Lift Serum Mask, $160 for five sheets.

#6 Stressed out before the big date? Opt for a nice hot bath the night before, go for a massage or use some aromatherapy to wind down.

#7 Your date’s tonight. Leave these rose quartz facial massagers ($73 for a pair, from Mmerciencore.com) in the fridge for a quick 10 minutes before using it for a gentle face massage. Skin will look brighter and your jawline will appear more defined.

#8 And if all else fails, fake it until you make it.
