Haze pushes air quality across Singapore into unhealthy range for first time in 7 years
For the first time since September 2019, all regions of Singapore entered the unhealthy air quality range on Tuesday (Sep 15) morning.
The central region recorded the worst air quality, with the 24-hour PSI reaching 154 at 6am. The north was the last region to enter the unhealthy band, hitting 104.
By 1pm, air quality had improved in the north and south, with PSI readings falling to 95 and 99 respectively. The central, western and eastern regions remained in the unhealthy range.
Moderate to dense smoke plumes from fires in Kalimantan drifted towards Singapore after a shift in prevailing winds, while some smoke haze also came from southern Sumatra.
