Investigators probe controller in fatal LaGuardia airport collision
The Air Canada Express jet that collided with a fire truck at New York's LaGuardia airport has revived concerns over air traffic control staffing shortages at major US airports.
The collision that happened late on Sunday (Mar 22) while landing killed both pilots and seriously injured nine people.
The air traffic controller was juggling another emergency in the run-up to the crash. Audio recordings reveal the controller urgently warning, “Stop, truck one, stop,” shortly before impact.
