Adjournment motion on strengthening support and dignity for migrant domestic workers
Train migrant domestic workers (MDWs) for real caregiving, give them primary care, and develop regulated part-time and home care pathways. These are in the list of 'asks' in an adjournment motion by MP Yeo Wan Ling. She made these calls in parliament on Tuesday (Jan 13), saying the job of MDWs now covers areas such as dementia care, post-hospital recovery, disability support and senior well-being. Responding, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Shawn Huang pointed out that the government has been expanding caregiving options and ensuring that they remain accessible and affordable. It will continue to find ways to safeguard the interests of employers while protecting the well-being of MDWs.
