17 Jun 2026 09:23pm
Five months after losing her mother in the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire in Hong Kong, Phyllis Lo is allowed back into her mother’s flat for the first time. She has just three hours to return to the home where her mother died, recover what she can, and say a final goodbye. Inside, she finds soot-covered photo albums, a damaged piano, handmade clothing, family keepsakes and jewellery her mother had left behind for Phyllis and her brother. As Phyllis sorts through what remains, she reflects on grief, memory and what it means to keep living after experiencing unimaginable loss. This is a follow-up to the CNA documentary After The Fire.
About the Show

In November 2025, a catastrophic fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, Hong Kong killed more than a hundred residents and displaced thousands more.

But even as homes and hopes were destroyed, a powerful counter-narrative has emerged from the smouldering debris.Survivors have come together to forge a new community, leaning on each other as they rebuild and reclaim their lives. And volunteers of all stripes have also rallied around them, bringing aid, expertise, compassion and solidarity.

This is the story of what resilience looks like when all else has been destroyed, how solace and hope can rise from the ashes of loss.
