Alvin Tan on assessing enhancements to Singapore's biodiversity
The Landscaping for Urban Spaces and High-Rises (LUSH) programme integrates green spaces into Singapore’s urban environment through a mix of planning requirements and incentives. Since its inception in 2009, LUSH has supported the implementation of over 440 hectares of greenery - more than the size of 600 football fields. The government has also assessed that its approach to enhancing biodiversity can achieve better outcomes for Singapore, compared to the UK's Biodiversity Net Gain framework. Minister of State for National Development Alvin Tan gave this update in parliament on Friday (Feb 27) in reply to an MP’s question.
