Alvin Tan on prioritising business collaboration in Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone
The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone seeks to strengthen economic connectivity between Singapore and Johor by improving the flow of goods and people and the business environment in Johor. It will enable both sides to complement their strengths to better compete for global investments together. This could come from a range of sectors, including manufacturing, transport and logistics, digital economy and energy. A report by the Singapore Business Federation in July 2024 had highlighted interest from businesses surveyed in operational and infrastructural improvements that will enhance investment facilitation, labour availability and the cross-border movement of goods and people. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan, who said this in reply to Parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Oct 15), told the House that these issues are prioritised in discussions with the Malaysian government.
