The Art of Small Talk

About the show:

In a generation fluent in emojis but increasingly tongue-tied in person, The Art of Small Talk follows eight socially anxious young Singaporeans as they attempt to rediscover the lost art of conversation. Across a four-part workshop, they tackle the terrifying basics of human interaction – from breaking the ice with strangers to deepening real-life relationships.

But the classroom is only the beginning. As we follow the participants into their everyday lives, we uncover the roots of their social anxiety: the nurse who struggles with making friends, the influencer terrified of networking, and the engineer struggling to land dates. Alongside them, we meet their loved ones who reveal more about their complicated journeys with social interaction.

Heartfelt, funny and observational, the series asks why a generation so skilled at communicating digitally can struggle to connect face-to-face. And whether learning to yap might be the first step towards finding their voice.
