ASEAN meeting: China, Japan, South Korea call on bloc to tackle shared global challenges

She added that officials discussed the possibility of appointing a longer-term special envoy. But she stresses Myanmar's return to full participation remains unlikely for now. She was speaking at a press conference after bloc foreign ministers held meetings with dialogue partners. On related meetings with East Asian counterparts including China, Japan and South Korea, Ms Lazaro says ASEAN and China are working towards concluding the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea, describing it as a priority for many member states.
