03:16 Min

Starting today, Taiwan residents will have easier access into mainland China at more entry points, with the number of checkpoints issuing on-arrival permits going up to 100 from 58. The scheme covers land, air, rail and sea ports, with the permit valid for a single visit to the mainland. Beijing said the entire process will take only 30 minutes. First-time visitors will also have their application fee waived, and they can visit more than 3,000 scenic spots for free. The mainland's Taiwan Affairs Office said such policies aim to facilitate exchanges and cooperation. Deborah Wong reports.
