Death penalty call for former South Korean President Yoon sparks human rights debate

A South Korean court is expected to deliver its verdict in the trial of former President Yoon Suk Yeol on Feb 19. Prosecutors took the rare step yesterday of seeking the death penalty for the ousted leader over his failed martial law bid in December 2024. The move has sparked debate over justice, accountability and human rights. South Korea has not carried out a death sentence in nearly three decades. Lim Yun Suk reports from Seoul.
