Israel election: Netanyahu's bloc leads with some 80% of votes counted, says election committee
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc is holding on to its lead, with more than 80 per cent of votes counted in the country's first election since the Oct 7 attack by Hamas three years ago. The electoral authority is projecting 54 seats for Mr Netanyahu's camp, compared with 49 for his main rival, Gadi Eisenkot. Both are short of the 61 seats needed for a majority in the 120-member Knesset. Blake Sifton reports for CNA from Tel Aviv.
