Beijing Tower Crash: Small aircraft crashed into tallest building in the Chinese capital
The pilot of a small aircraft was killed after it crashed into Beijing's tallest skyscraper yesterday (Friday). 13 others were injured and are receiving medical treatment. It is unclear if they were inside the building or struck by debris when the aircraft crashed. Investigations are ongoing. The incident prompted an emergency response in the Chinese capital. The authorities say the two-seat light aircraft struck the 108-storey tower in the evening. The deceased pilot was the only person on board. Two glass panels on a high floor of the building were damaged. Fire crews were also seen putting out small flames on the ground. Surrounding roads remain closed. Rebecca Metteo reports from Beijing.
