14:11 Min
Augmenting local hiring demand is key to protecting the Singaporean core in the workforce, said NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Desmond Choo in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 24). He suggested enhancing the Jobs Growth Incentive for workers above the age of 62 through added subsidies. Mr Choo also urged help for young Singaporeans hit by the COVID-19 crisis, with subsidies or loans for their second diplomas or degrees or by offering incentives to companies to convert graduate trainees to full-time hires. He also called for a review of the regulatory framework to better support gig workers.
