Budget 2021 debate: Wan Rizal on improving mental health

The issue of mental health has always been stigmatised, but it has resurfaced amid the COVID-19 pandemic, said MP Wan Rizal in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 25). He reiterated a call for strategies including timeouts at workplaces and schools and making mental health screening part of regular health screening. He also called on the Public Service to lead the way in tweaking its annual ranking exercise and moving towards a “balanced model” of performance and development. Dr Wan also urged the Education Ministry to better prepare graduates to be agile in a volatile job environment.
