Budget 2022 debate: Koh Lian Pin on Singapore as a global city for sustainability
Singapore can be a global city for sustainability and this transformation has already begun, said NMP Koh Lian Pin in Parliament on Monday (Feb 28). He said R&D and educational programmes are already being developed here, which should be tapped to help other cities around the world build capacity to address challenges in climate change and sustainability. Prof Koh also highlighted Singapore’s revised carbon tax policy, which will include letting large emitters buy international carbon credits to offset their carbon tax bills from 2024 - something he described as “nothing short of visionary”.
