Budget 2022 debate: Murali Pillai on building resilience and robustness

Singapore must invest in resilience and robustness capabilities to ensure its survival in an unpredictable and volatile world. Resilience is the ability to rebound from a shock, while robustness is the ability to resist, said MP Murali Pillai. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 1), he wanted to know in which strategic areas the Government intends to build resilience and robustness capabilities. He also asked if there are sufficient funds and resources to build these capabilities. He also voiced support for the increase in tax on wealthier Singaporeans but emphasised the need to keep public expenditure lean.
