Budget 2022 debate: Patrick Tay on enhancing workplace fairness, strengthening employment and employability of PMEs

12:36 Min

There are four urgent tasks ahead to enhance workplace fairness as well as employment and employability for professionals, managers and executives (PMEs), said MP Patrick Tay in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 1). They are: enhancing the Employment Pass framework to safeguard the “Singaporean core”, imposing a penalty framework for egregious cases of unfair workplace practices, protecting the confidentiality of whistleblowers who expose such practices, and helping mature PMEs move into new roles through short-term salary support. Mr Tay emphasised the need to transform the economy to stay competitive while ensuring Singaporeans’ job aspirations are met.
