Budget 2022 debate: Poh Li San on tax policy, progressive wages and developing ‘green’ talent
Singapore has moved into a higher phase of development and top-tier earners will be expected to contribute even more to tax revenues in future, said MP Poh Li San in Parliament on Monday (Feb 28). During the debate on Budget 2022, she expressed support for expanding the Progressive Wage Model but said she was concerned that businesses would have to pass cost increases to consumers, even with the Government co-funding higher pay for low-wage workers over the next five years. Ms Poh also called for more to be done to develop the talent needed to build up the green economy.
