Budget 2023 debate: Cheng Li Hui on building a Singapore 'made for families'
Budget 2023 covered a "breathtaking" set of initiatives, ranging from building a Singapore "made for families" to growing the economy, supporting businesses and safeguarding climate resilience, said MP Cheng Li Hui. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 23), she described it as "comprehensive coverage" for Singaporeans and Singapore that is the envy of many. She said while the Budget is generous in supporting families and society, more attention should be paid to the nuanced aspects of addressing the total fertility rate, including facilities and support for families in new estates, as well as work-from-home arrangements. For women undergoing Assisted Reproductive Technology procedures, more community support is needed, she said.
