Budget 2024 debate: Rachel Ong on an inclusive SkillsFuture ecosystem

12:23 Min

People with disabilities must be given equal access to training and upskilling opportunities, said MP Rachel Ong in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 27). She said that while Government support has been robust, obstacles remain. Ms Ong made several proposals. First, require reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities - measures that will allow them to participate in education and training on an equal basis, without imposing an undue burden on training providers. Second, improve awareness and use of an SG Enable grant that provides funding to customise courses for participants with special needs. Third, equip adult educators with the knowledge and skills to develop accessible course materials. And fourth, ensure that information on course accessibility is available pre-enrolment.
