Budget 2025 debate: Razwana Begum Abdul Rahim on doing more for children, women and their families

13:14 Min

In parliament on Wednesday (Feb 26), NMP Razwana Begum Abdul Rahim noted that while Budget 2025 is steering Singapore in the right direction, the government needs to do more to ensure that its underlying objective - a Singapore where no one is left behind - is achieved. Lauding the initiatives aimed at reducing the cost of early childhood education, she emphasised the need to do more to encourage families to access early childhood education, noting the “strong personal and cultural perspectives that early childhood education is an unnecessary expense or a luxury”. She also highlighted the need to provide children access to a wide range of creative arts options at school, and to nurture creativity in children “just as much as we nurture literacy and numeracy”.
