Consider additional medium-term top-ups to public transport subsidies to help households manage cost-of-living pressures. Increase medium-term funding support under the Progressive Wage Credit Scheme to help businesses manage rising wage costs associated with the uplifting of low-wage workers. Provide enhanced grants for the upkeep of ageing estates and higher subsidies for flats that do not have lift access. MP Liang Eng Hwa made these proposals in parliament on Wednesday (Feb 25), saying that he is encouraged that there are significant measures in the Budget to strengthen Singapore’s social compact and address inequality, alongside efforts to reinforce economic resilience and national security.
